Nice night at the Jarrettsville Creamery for a fundraiser supporting the Torsch Foundation. A young man who chose our cause and mission as his Eagle Scout project. Dean Badders, you have a bright future ahead. Thank you for your care and dedication! And many thanks for all who came out to support the fundraiser 💓

If you know this foundation, then you know that we are not the best at keeping up with our social media.

2025 has been an impactful year for the Daniel Carl Torsch Foundation. Our small, but mighty, team of 8 has been hard at work, serving some of the most vulnerable and underserved individuals in our communities.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to any and all of our supporters. Whether you shared our information, made a donation, attended a training, or told us some kind words, we greatly appreciate you.

Not one day looks the same at our foundation. Our staff’s days are filled with: case management, street outreach, care coordination, funding recovery housing, overdose prevention trainings, family peer support, syringe cleanups, community events, and so much more.

As we close out 2025, we wanted to leave you all with some pictures that we took throughout the year, and a snapshot of our work:

•5,703 individuals served
•24,796 services provided
•766 individuals transported
•1,200 individuals receiving care coordination
•2,986 individuals receiving case management
•457 individuals supported in recovery housing
•307 individuals referred to wound care services
•392 individuals referred to other services
•3,691 food kits distributed
•13,374 safe use kits distributed
•5,657 safe s*x kits distributed

Whether it’s: harm reduction outreach, peer support, building outreach kits, case management, family peer support, syringe cleanups, distributing bikes, putting together office supplies, no one day is alike.

We don’t always remember to stop and take pictures, nor is it always the most practical to capture our work in a candid snapshot. But here’s a small photo dump from the past month.

As many of you are aware, a tragic incident involving a mass overdose occurred in Baltimore City today. While the investigation is ongoing and reports are still being verified, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the significance of today, as well as moving forward.

First and foremost, our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by today’s events. Our thoughts are with the individuals, families, and communities that were impacted.

We would also like to express our immense gratitude for the actions and contributions from our first responders and the essential organizations that support our city. Today, we were joined by the Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition, Charm City Care Connection, MPAC, the Baltimore City Health Department, and others (apologies if you were left out). The swift response, solidarity, and compassion demonstrated, were truly inspiring.

Finally, for those in the Baltimore area who may be casually using drugs, in active addiction, or know someone who is, we continue to strongly encourage the practice of harm reduction strategies.

We would love to extend our gratitude to our friends over at Bright Star Early Learning, LLC for their generous donation of hygiene and cleaning supplies.

Not everything is pictured here, but their donation has already positively impacted the lives of those experiencing homelessness, as well as those in substance use treatment.

We are honored to join this group of incredible advocates from across the state, who have dedicated their lives to preventing drug related deaths, and improving the lives of those living with addiction. Together, we ARE making a difference.

Due to recent actions taken by the federal administration regarding grants, effective today, all recovery residence funding has been placed on pause until further notice. We hope this will not be long before we have a solid confirmation that we are safe to offer assistance.

Please feel free to send any questions. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Daniel Carl Torsch Foundation

This week, Maryland will be experiencing dangerously low temperatures. As always, unhoused individuals are the most vulnerable population during these times.

Please share these resources for Baltimore City and Baltimore County warming centers, transportation, and shelter.

We were fortunate enough to have WMAR include us in their recent story. We are even more fortunate to have people like Mr. Rob, out in the community, giving back to those that need the most help, compassion, and understanding.
