What is your plan to care for self between now and our next session?
This question allows the therapist to listen to how the client plans to implement the strategies we’ve discussed. It also creates space for the therapist to support you through accountability, documentation of your progress, and to support further development of your needs assessment. If needed, we can then adjust our approach or try alternative strategies to better support you during this time.
My favorite part of this process is using positive praise to help increase your positive self-talk and further build your insight and awareness.
