Urban and backyard foraging is a great tool for identifing herbs and potentially using these plants but do keep a few safety tips in mind when you pull your weeds.

1. Know your enviornment, are urban animals uninating on the land? Dogs, most likely? Is there human waste or trash around. And has the land been sprayed with pesticides?

2. Is the plant you are foraging a bio accumulating root or plant?

3. Has the ground been tested for lead? Ugh. This one is newer to me but one we can not ignore this posdibility, even our own personal in ground gardens, especially in the city should consider this testing.

Other than that minumm 2 ID's and perferablly one non internet ID is a good rule of thumb for plant ID. And then you too can begin to eat your weeds or broaden your plant/ herbal botanical knowledge.
