“If only I knew…”
Lately, I've been reading about other birth workers' stories and how they were always fascinated with birth.
I've heard it frequently and didn't think too much about it.
Until last night- When I remembered my story…
When I was a little girl, I was scared.
I had a picture in my head of a TINY, little hole and a HUGE baby coming out and it terrified me!!!
If only I knew the wisdom of how my body works.
Oh! My bones actually move and make room for a baby?!
Oh! My body prepares itself for 9 months by producing relaxin to help a baby come out?!
Oh! My body creates natural painkillers so it's not so painful?!
OH- if only I knew!
I would have had a lot less fear and a lot more
EXCITEMENT and EMPOWERMENT going into labor.
If only I knew, I had a choice in what happens to my body.
I will never forget when I had a surprise homebirth in my bedroom, late Friday night 6 years ago.
It was the first time in my life that I FELT "being" in my body-
my WHOLE body.
I felt a COMPLETE lack of control; my body was working WITHOUT me and at the same time- I was in total control.
I didn't need to think, I just got on my knees and birthed.
My body just knew how to give birth.
That day, I found my power.
It was my body. my power, my choice.
I want to share that with every woman who is scared, alone, and doubts her ability to give birth.
You got this. You are created to birth.
Trust your body and trust yourself.
Doctors don’t deliver babies, women do.
You have a voice.
You have a CHOICE. 🔥
