The Mong Lab

The Mong Lab The Mong Lab is a research group at the University of Maryland, Baltimore that studies how hormones modulate sleep, wake, and drug-induced arousal.

The Mong Lab is a neurobiology based research group at the University of Maryland, Baltimore that investigates the entire arousal spectrum, including sleep, wake and drug-induced arousal. We evaluate how ovarian hormones may naturally modulate these states of arousal behaviorally, and investigate the mechanistic underpinnings that result in these behavioral changes. There are currently two major research focuses of the lab:
1) Understanding the mechanism by which methamphetamine use results in increased motivated s*x drive in women
2) Understanding how hormones influence the activity of the sleep circuitry, and why women are more sensitive to disruptions in sleep
