Monday Mental Health Moment: For the Youth and beyond…

✨ Focusing on What You Can Control ✨

In life, we often encounter situations that can impact our mental well-being. It’s important to recognize the difference between what we can and cannot control to maintain a positive mindset.

🧠 **What’s in Your Control:**
- Your Thoughts: Practice positive self-talk and challenge negative thoughts.
- Your Actions: Choose how to respond to situations, and engage in activities that bring you joy.
- Your Efforts: Invest energy in what aligns with your goals and values.
- Your Boundaries: Set healthy limits to protect your peace.

🌟 **What’s Outside Your Control:**
- Others’ Opinions: People will always have their perspectives.
- The Past: Learn from it, but don’t let it define your future.
- Unexpected Events: Adapt to changes by focusing on resilience and flexibility.
- Others’ Actions: Remember, you can only control your reaction to them.

🕊️ By identifying where your power lies, you enhance your ability to cultivate peace and resilience. Focus on what you can control and let go of what you cannot.

Monday Mental Health Moment:
Back to topNational Bullying Prevention Month
October was first declared as National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006. Since then, October has been a time to acknowledge that bullying has devastating effects on children and families such as school avoidance, loss of self-esteem, increased anxiety, and depression. Bullying can occur in multiple ways. It can be verbal, physical, through social exclusion, or via digital sources like email, texts, or social media. Unlike mutual teasing or fighting, bullying occurs when one person or a group of people is perceived as being more powerful than another and takes advantage of that power through repeated physical assaults, threats of harm, intimidation, or by purposefully excluding a person from a valued social group. Being bullied can severely affect the person’s self-image, social interactions, and school performance and can lead to mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and substance use, and even suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Do your part to address bullying when you see it and make sure to always be kind!

On every 10th of October we celebrate World Mental Health day. World Mental Health Day provides the opportunity to raise awareness about global mental health issues and creates the opportunity for people to call for action and advocate for change in mental health. This year let’s focus on looking after your Mental Health. Tips include the A,B,C’s of Mental Health:

Awareness – Mental Health and wellbeing mean different things to different people.
Belonging – Community involvement is key. Focus on what you have in common with others and how you can help.
Connection – Build strong support networks and look out for one another.

Monday Mental Health Moment: We most times don’t even realize we are numbing our pain in these ways. Attending to the roots of our issues allows us to repair our thinking and then our behaviors. “Dealing with it” is NOT healing from it.

🌿 Monday Mental Health Moment 🌿

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by constant news updates. Remember, our minds aren’t built to carry the weight of every crisis and story.

Take a moment to unplug, breathe, and give yourself permission to step away from the news cycle. Prioritize your mental well-being—balance your awareness with self-care.

Your peace is important. 💙✨

Therapeutic Thursday Tip: As we remember the events and the heroic individuals that we lost September 11, 2001 , also remember to be kind to yourself. The trauma of this anniversary can be extremely triggering. Today is a great day to practice extreme level self care. Be in tune with your inner self and know your limits…. Give reverence while also honoring your mental health boundaries. And most importantly, know you’re not alone!

Other problems often contribute to su***de, such as those related to relationships, substance use, physical health, and job, money, legal, or housing stress.” Don’t ignore the signs, we are here to help!
