For many people, especially those navigating generational trauma, systemic barriers, or unspoken grief, healing is not linear, and it doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about creating space to be seen, heard, and supported in a way that honors your lived experience.

At Maryland Wellness, we believe care should meet you where you are culturally, emotionally, and personally. Whether you’re carrying stress, navigating life transitions, or simply looking for support, doing it alone doesn't have to be your only option.

Support is available.

🖤 Black History Month Spotlight: Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark

Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark was a trailblazing psychologist whose work changed how the world understands the emotional and psychological impact of racism — especially on children.

Through her groundbreaking Doll Study, Dr. Clark demonstrated how segregation and discrimination affected Black children’s self-esteem and identity. Her research became instrumental in the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision, helping to dismantle school segregation in the United States.

Her legacy reminds us that mental health is shaped by environment, representation, and access to care, and that healing must be intentional, inclusive, and equitable.

At Maryland Wellness, we honor her work by continuing to advocate for mental health care that recognizes lived experience and supports emotional well-being across the lifespan. 🤍

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), only about 1 in 3 Black adults with a diagnosable mental illness receive treatment, compared to higher treatment rates among other groups.

This gap is not due to a lack of need. It reflects long-standing barriers such as:
🧠 Stigma
🏥 Limited access to culturally responsive care
💲 Cost
🚫 And historical mistrust within the healthcare system

At Maryland Wellness we believe mental health care should feel accessible, inclusive, and safe. Addressing these disparities starts with awareness, and continues with action, support, and community-centered care.

🤍 If you or someone you love is looking for support, we invite you to reach out and talk with us. Our team is here to listen, answer questions, and help you take the next step, at your own pace.
