www.labforchilddevelopment.com At the Johns Hopkins Laboratory for Child Development, we investigate how infants and children perceive and reason about the world around them. We explore such topics as how infants and children remember hidden objects, learn new words, and think about number and mathematics. Our studies involve playing simple games that parents and children usually find lots of fun! We are currently conducting these studies with infants and children between the ages of 0 and 6 years of age. We would love for you and your child to participate in our research! For more information about our current studies, check out our website at http://www.psy.jhu.edu/~labforchilddevelopment/, or contact us by e-mail at infant.research@jhu.edu or call us at 410-516-6068!!

This past fall, we had the exciting opportunity to have one of our studies published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences! The findings are the first to demonstrate that young children distinguish between improbable and impossible events, and learn significantly better after impossible occurrences. Results of this study, conducted by former doctoral student who is now an associate professor at the College of New Jersey, Dr. Aimee Stahl, and our own Dr. Feigenson, suggests parents and teachers can create these heightened learning moments for kids!
