This Saturday, April 25, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

You can safely, legally, and for free drop off unused medications at a local collection site. Find a drop-off site near you: dea.gov/takebackday

For families managing a loved one's medications at home, this is also a great moment to:

- Review what medications are current vs. expired.
- Organize prescriptions so they're clearly labeled.
- Talk with a provider about simplifying a complex medication routine.

Small steps, big safety wins.

What Families Actually Worry About

When families reach out to us, they're not usually thinking about service menus or care packages. They're thinking things like:

- "Will the caregiver actually show up every day?"
- "Will my mom let someone help her or fight it?"
- "Am I going to have to manage this like a second job?"
- "Can we afford to keep this going long-term?"

We hear those worries. And we try to answer them honestly without a sales pitch.

We'd like to have a real conversation about what care looks like, how we handle scheduling, how we communicate with families, and what to realistically expect.

If those questions sound familiar, we'd love to talk.

The Relationship Is the Care
Something we often hear from families after care has been going well for a few weeks: "I didn't realize how much she needed the company."

Tasks matter, whether it's getting dressed, eating well, or staying safe at home. But loneliness is one of the most underestimated challenges facing people who need in-home support. And a caregiver who genuinely connects with a client changes everything.

We match based on personality, not just proximity. Shared interests. Compatible rhythms. Because when it's a good fit, it's not just care, it's a relationship.

That's the Esther's Home Care difference.

There's usually a moment—a phone call, a close call, or a visit—when something just feels different, and that makes a family realize things need to change.

Nobody plans for that moment. But when it comes, it helps to know there are people you can call who will actually listen, help you think it through, and not push you into anything.

That's what we try to be for every family who reaches out to us.

Not all caregivers are a good fit for every client. And that's okay, it just means matching matters.

At Esther's Home Care, we consider more than just availability when we pair a caregiver with a client. We think about personality. Interests. Communication style. Whether they'll actually enjoy spending time together.

We've had clients and caregivers bond over Orioles games, church, cooking, and old movies. Those relationships are among the most meaningful we've seen.

Because when the fit is right, care feels like company. And that makes every day a little better, for the client and the family.

Tell us, what matters most to you when it comes to finding the right caregiver?

Here's a quick home safety check for anyone with an older adult at home:

✅ Is there a nightlight in the hallway and bathroom?
✅ Are rugs secured or removed from high-traffic areas?
✅ Can they get in and out of the shower safely?
✅ Is the most-used furniture easy to get up from?

These aren't big renovations. They're small adjustments that can genuinely prevent falls, which are one of the leading causes of hospitalization for older adults.

Our caregivers are trained to notice these things and bring them to families' attention. Because a safe home means fewer emergencies and more peace of mind.

Here's something we want more people to know about us:

We don't only care for seniors.

Esther's Homecare supports adults of all ages who need help with daily living, whether that's due to a chronic condition, a disability, or simply needing more consistent support at home.

Every person we care for is different. So we take the time to actually match caregivers to clients, not just by schedule, but by personality, interests, and communication style.

Because care that's a good fit feels different than care that isn't.

Multiple Sclerosis affects everyone differently, and so does the kind of support that helps most.

For MS Awareness Month, we want to recognize the families managing fatigue, mobility changes, and the unpredictability that can come with MS. It's a lot to hold.

At Esther's Home Care, we work with clients of all ages and conditions who need help with daily living — not just seniors. Long-term, consistent care matters especially when symptoms change from day to day.

If you or someone you love could use steady, compassionate support at home, we'd be honored to be part of that team.

Real talk for a second. 💙

When a parent comes home from the hospital after a stroke, the discharge paperwork doesn't prepare you for what daily life actually looks like.

Suddenly, you're managing medications, mobility, bath time, meals — on top of your own job and family.

We hear this from families all the time. And we want you to know: there's help, and it doesn't have to feel like giving up.

Esther's Homecare has been supporting Baltimore families through exactly this for over 25 years. We show up, we're consistent, and we actually get to know your loved one.

If you're in that season right now, send us a message or give us a call. We're easy to talk to.

Did you know that March is Brain Injury Awareness Month?

Recovering from a stroke at home is possible, but it takes the right support.

At Esther's Homecare, our caregivers are trained to assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, while offering the patience and encouragement that recovery demands.

Consistency matters more than most people realize. Familiar faces, steady routines, and compassionate care can make all the difference for stroke survivors and the families walking beside them.

If someone you love is recovering at home and you're not sure how to manage it all, remember you don't have to do it alone.
