👶 Fresh faces, fresh data. Meet our newest little participants.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve welcomed more families into the Pediatric Motor Development Lab for our Infant Sitting Norms Study. These little participants help us capture how sitting and balance take shape during this key stage of development.

Each visit adds to our understanding of typical infant motor development, and every family plays a part in making this work possible!

From the lab to the big screen, motion capture technology can do more than analyze movement patterns. The same technology is also used to bring characters to life in movies and video games through realistic animation.

Gait lab technology highlights the connection between research and the way motion is brought to life and monitored.

🔬 Project Spotlight

Led by Dr. Jordan Wickstrom, this project examines over four decades of global research, dating back to 1982, to better understand how the 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) has been used and reported in neuromuscular disorders.

By identifying variability in methodology and reporting, this work aims to strengthen standardization—supporting more reliable use of the 6MWT for tracking change over time and evaluating interventions. Ultimately, these findings help advance more consistent approaches to assessing walking performance and functional outcomes in individuals with NMDs.
