What's the scariest, most gut-wrenching, scream-inducing thing this Halloween?

Ghosting your s*xual health, of course! 👻

But taking control of your health doesn't have to be scary, especially not with Planned Parenthood of Maryland. No matter the season, we're here to help you and your s*xual and reproductive health, by offering:

🎃 Breast exams & Pap smears, key tools in early cancer detection which results in better cancer treatment outcomes.

🎃 STI testing & treatment. Untreated STIs can lead to long-term complications such as infertility and cancer.

🎃 Wellness exams, where a trusted PPM provider can help you achieve your s*xual & reproductive health goals, whether they be menstruation management, family planning, gender affirming hormone therapy, and much more.

Happy Medical Assistant Recognition Day!

Medical assistants are vital to Planned Parenthood of Maryland's mission of providing expert s*xual and reproductive health care to every patient that walks through our doors. Whether they're delivering compassionate care, utilizing their clinical expertise among our frontline staff, or supporting our abortion providers, their impact at PPM cannot be overstated.

So thank you, medical assistants, for your dedication to the health of our patients and our communities.

Thank you, Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown, for standing up for Marylanders and their right to comprehensive, high-quality s*xual and reproductive care.

Cutting off funding to the range of services Planned Parenthood provides does nothing but harm patients across the state who rely on us for early cancer detection, STI testing, HIV prevention, and much, much more. Which is why we're grateful to have a state administration that supports evidence-based care that protects the health of millions.

The federal government is trying to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood — threatening access to cancer screenings, birth control, and other essential care for millions.

I joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general from across the country in opposing this unlawful effort and fighting to protect affordable healthcare for those who need it most.

Medication abortion is safe and effective, and has been for the 25 years it's given patients a new way to access abortion care.

Thank you, Attorney General Brown, for standing with science-backed health care and reproductive freedom for all Marylanders.

I have joined 20 other attorneys general in a joint statement opposing efforts to restrict access to mifepristone. For more than 25 years, mifepristone has been proven safe and effective and is the most common method for early-term abortion care in the U.S. Attempts to limit it are not based on science—they’re political.

In Maryland, we’ve fought to protect reproductive care by challenging unjustified restrictions, filing briefs to preserve access, and petitioning the FDA to remove unnecessary barriers. We remain committed to safeguarding reproductive freedom.

Today is the anniversary of the Hyde Amendment—a federal amendment that for nearly 50 years has denied abortion care coverage to people with low incomes, especially women of color, immigrant women, and young women.

Planned Parenthood is continuing to work towards ending the discriminatory Hyde Amendment and opposing additional attacks on abortion coverage and financial barriers to care. Because everyone deserves access to life-saving services.

Learn more about the Hyde Amendment and how it targets vulnerable populations:

The federal laws that withhold insurance coverage of abortion from qualified women threaten women’s health and well-being. These restrictions, commonly known as “the Hyde Amendment,” particularly harm low-income women and women of color. These restrictions must be overturned so that a woman ha...
