Lassahn Funeral Homes

Lassahn Funeral Homes With our years of experience and highly professional, and compassionate staff, Lassahn Funeral Homes are the first choice for hundreds of area families.

Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc has been family-owned and operated for over 155 years. Their rich history in the community sets them apart from any other funeral home. You can count on their caring and knowledgeable staff to guide you through the planning process. Often, people contact the funeral home when they have just learned about a death. The last-minute planning can be a whirlwind process that the planning team is very experienced in arranging. If you take advantage of pre-need planning services at Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc, you can get your desired arrangements set up. You can also prepay for funeral services and save your family loads of stress, knowing that the plans and payments can be transferred to any funeral home if changes arise over the years. Funeral services have many components that can be chosen piece by piece. For example, you can skip a viewing if you are not interested in an open-casket program. And you can change up the invite list for the graveside ceremony if you would like to keep it more intimate at the burial site. The most important aspect of planning a funeral is providing a service where family and friends can pay their final respects and gain closure. You can find an affordable cremation in a direct or simple cremation, which does not include a corresponding service. Many families scatter the ashes on their own time at a place that is special to the deceased. A cremation service with a memorial ceremony is a great way to provide a formal gathering and schedule it for a convenient time without rushing to follow a burial schedule. And finally, a more casual option is a life celebration, consisting of casual attire, dancing, music, a life sketch video, and an outdoor venue. Speak with close friends and family to determine what the deceased would have wanted most for their end-of-life service. Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc serves families of Nottingham, Perry Hall, Parkville, Baltimore, Rosedale, White Marsh, Kingsville, Joppa, Fallston, and Baldwin. You can expect the funeral planning team to know exactly what to do for military honors and veteran services. The funeral products are conveniently offered through the funeral home with samples to check out for caskets, urns, vaults, and memorials. Let Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc be your first call after hearing of a death in the family. You can visit the home at 7401 Belair Rd Nottingham, MD 21236. Or you can call to set up an appointment with a trusted member of the team at (410) 665-2000.

Our Heritage

Our funeral home was established toward the end of the civil war, in 1864, by Frederick Lassahn. Who was a blacksmith, wheel wright and cabinet maker by trade. His blacksmith shop was located on the southeast corner of Belair Road and Fullerton Avenue, in the Overlea area. It was through his trade that he became involved in the funeral business. He would supply caskets, which he had made, and rent horse drawn hacks to the local funeral directors in the area. His son, Henry C. Lassahn, followed his father's footsteps into the business. As did Henry's son, Edgar F. Lassahn, Sr., who became the third generation of his family to work in the funeral business. Edgar later married his wife, M. Eleonora Albrecht. Edgar and Eleonora's three children, Janet E. Hess, Edgar F. Lassahn, Jr. and Ronald C. Lassahn also followed their ancestors footsteps and entered into the business during the mid 1900's.

After Edgar and Eleonora's three children married their spouses, Richard A. Hess, Carol Cherko Lassahn and Carolyn Monti Lassahn, they joined as members of our family business. Of special note, Carol Cherko Lassahn and Carolyn Monti Lassahn, both came from families who owned and operated funeral homes in the Yonkers, NY and Philadelphia, PA areas respectively.

In 1969, Edgar, Sr. purchased the Kingsville Inn. After two years of renovations, he opened Lassahn Funeral Homes second location, E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A. Later, in 1990 and 1994, Edgar and Carol Lassahn, Jr.'s two children, Edgar F. Lassahn, III and L. Heather A. Lassahn both entered into the business making them the fifth generation of the family to work in the business.

It has been and continues to be our family's sincere desire to help those families suffering a loss of a loved one through this most difficult time in their lives.
