Our Founder & Clinical Director, Jessica Fauntleroy, MSW, LCSW-C, was officially sworn in to the Baltimore City Trauma-Informed Care Task Force — a role that directly aligns with our mission to advance healing-centered, culturally responsive care across Baltimore.

This moment was made even more powerful by the presence of family and friends who showed up with love, encouragement, and unwavering support. Their presence was a reminder that this work is deeply rooted in community, accountability, and collective care.

This appointment reflects years of clinical practice, advocacy, and commitment to trauma-informed systems that truly serve women, families, and communities impacted by chronic stress and trauma.

We look forward to contributing our voice, expertise, and leadership to this critical work — and continuing to show up for Baltimore with intention, integrity, and purpose.

Today is a big day for me, and as I celebrate my swearing-in to the Baltimore City Trauma Informed Care Task Force, I’m reflecting on the women who shaped my foundation.

My mother, Tosha Vicki Fauntleroy and my grandmother, Dorothy Coates Fauntleroy, have been two of the greatest influences in my life. Their strength, their sacrifice, and their unwavering determination set the tone for the woman I would grow to become.

They gave me the best they had to give.
They modeled resilience, leadership, and the power of standing firm in who you are.
Their lessons have carried me through every season of my journey.

As I step into this new chapter of leadership and service, I carry their legacy with pride. I am forever honored to be Vicki’s daughter and Dot’s granddaughter.

This moment is not just mine — it belongs to the women who came before me and the prayers that paved the way. 💜

Parentification is a hidden form of emotional burden that many girls — especially Black and Brown girls — experience long before they have the chance to simply be children.

When a child becomes the “strong one,” the caretaker, or the emotional support for adults, it can shape how she learns to cope, connect, and show up in the world.
In adulthood, this often looks like burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and difficulty asking for help.
