You know the saying… comparison is the thief of joy. It’s like that often, you know?
There can be so much goodness in front of me, yet all I can see is all the goodness that is NOT in front of me. The goodness that is in front of somebody else.
And it happens all the time, right? Comparing our own situations to others, to our past experiences, to expectations. And the comparing? It leaves us feeling “less than”.
But here’s the thing. The comparing is something our brains are programmed to do. We can’t really stop it.
But here’s what we can do - practice gratitude. Let the comparison be a trigger for us to observe what IS in front of us and take the opportunity to feel, to experience that goodness. A tool we learn on our yoga mats - mindful observation.
Comparison is the thief of joy. But the other side of that coin is gratitude.
What are you grateful for this morning? 💫
TWO new classes to the library this week! A power yoga practice encouraging us to tune in to the goodness of “what is” rather that what is not. And a quickie 10min arms class - link in bio to check out these additions to the TLY Library!
