Sara Nett, Psy.D. A psychotherapy practice dedicated to using evidence-based practice to help you feel better, faster.

Dr. Sara Nett is a Clinical Psychologist who uses evidence-based psychotherapies to assist people experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or insomnia. Dr. Nett has specific expertise in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. She works closely with sexual assault survivors and women experiencing perinatal distress, including postpartum depression and anxiety. Hello, and thank you for visiting my FaceBook page, where I intend to share information about topics that are often important to the people with whom I work. My work as a Clinical Psychologist began with the Veteran's Health Administration in 2007. For a decade, I worked closely with Veterans and Active Duty Service Members whose lives were affected by Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), following combat exposure and/or sexual assault that occurred during their military service. I received rigorous training by national experts in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and insomnia. My training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions allowed me to assist people in regaining control of their lives by teaching them to identify, recognize, and manage their intense emotions more effectively. The honor and privilege of assisting Veterans as they worked toward recovery was remarkable. My work was meaningful, and I was surrounded by inspiring, courageous people. In 2016, I decided to open a private practice, allowing me to share my training and expertise with the greater Baltimore community. More information about me and my practice can be found on my website: www.DrSaraNett.com.

Exciting updates from our resident CFT expert, Courtney Katzenberg!

A message from Courtney:
This fall, I had the joy of attending the 14th Annual Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) Conference in Birmingham, England—a gathering of clinicians, researchers, and practitioners from around the world who are passionate about understanding and cultivating compassion. It was both grounding and energizing to connect with others who share a belief that compassion isn’t a luxury—it’s a powerful way to regulate our nervous systems, soften self-criticism, and strengthen connection.

I kicked off the conference attending a full day workshop with Dr. Dan Siegel. His reflections on integration and connection deepened my appreciation for how compassion, attention, and presence literally shape our brains and relationships.

One of the true highlights was getting to say hello to Professor Paul Gilbert, the developer of Compassion Focused Therapy. To experience his warmth, generosity, and knowledge of the science of compassion in person was an experience I will not forget.

I returned to Baltimore feeling deeply renewed—reminded that compassion is courage in action. The insights and practices I gathered are already finding their way into sessions with individuals and couples here at be.

If you’re curious about how Compassion Focused Therapy can help you quiet the inner critic and build emotional balance, I’d love to share more. Additionally, if you are a clinician that is interested in learning how CFT can complement your current work, I would love to connect on that, too. Please reach out through email Courtney@bepsychotherapy or by phone 310-615-0764.

We often get stuck thinking that we have to fix all of our pain and all of our problems before we can begin living the life that we want to live. This is based on a cultural perspective that says: you have to “be happy” (as if “happiness” is a permanent state of being that can be achieved) in order to live a “good life.”

There is another way, and we can help you create the blueprint that moves you toward a life that is rich, full, and meaningful WHILE you do the important healing work you set out to do.
