12/31/2025
As is my custom, I like to pause for a moment after the final shift of the year. For me, 2025 has seen its last “click or pop.” But before I flip the lights off, I think it’s important to really take in what this work means to me.
As always, I’m filled with a familiar sense of gratitude for the people who fill my practice each day. That trust is never lost on me—even after all these years, it remains one of the most valued accomplishments of my life.
This year also held loss for me. I never shared publicly about the passing of sweet Olivia. Instead, I chose to keep those moments intimate within the space of these walls—but she is very much on my mind today.
Olivia was someone who believed deeply in connection, the power of conversation, and the possibility of bridging understanding across differences. She wanted to be a diplomat, and she lived like one.
In the short time that I was blessed to know her, we shared so much. We didn’t always agree on every topic, but we always listened with interest and curiosity about each other’s perspectives. We respected one another and embraced a shared love of people. Her mere being reminded me, constantly, to stay present for the moment in front of me. To say that I am deeply grateful for her is an understatement.
With that lesson in mind, it is no surprise that as I was thinking about this post earlier, a moment struck me as I looked at the people in my waiting room.
In this space sat people who might never share a table, a belief system, or a vote—but who all share a body, a nervous system, and a desire to feel safe, seen, and well. Different stories. Different identities. Different worldviews. One room. One moment.
It reminded me that beneath all the labels we carry, we are remarkably similar. We all want to belong. We all want to be respected. We all want to be cared for with dignity.
This isn’t a post about politics; it’s a post about humanity. As the year closes, I find myself holding gratitude, grief, and hope all at once.
So this is the wish I carry forward into the new year— May the year to come meet us all with moments of connection, dignity, and care—for ourselves and for one another.
Thank you, from all the corners of my heart, for being part of this space. Happy New Year to you and yours and I’ll see you next year. 🙏🏻
