Congratulations are in order for the BHS Girls Soccer program.

They were chosen by the rest of Class A North as the recipients of the “Good Sportsmanship” Award.

Coaches Turmelle, West & Laffey and their girls are invited to accept their honor at halftime of Saturday’s 8-Player State Championship match, hosted at Heddericg Field, with help of many of these girls.

This is a great honor for the program as it represents the values the girls & coaches put on display for the public when they compete on the playing field.

🎉 To wrap up our National Coaches Day highlights, we’re celebrating Coach Alan Mosca from Bangor High School — a coach who’s dedicated 33 incredible years to inspiring student-athletes and building championship programs! 🏆👏

Over the years, Coach Mosca has guided his teams to 10 State Titles (8 as Head Coach and 2 as Assistant) and an amazing 21 Conference Titles across Boys and Girls Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field. 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏻‍♂️‍➡️

When asked about his most memorable moments, Coach Mosca said:

“The best part of coaching is the relationships that are built and having the honor to be a small but important part of an athlete’s experience. It’s so rewarding and fulfilling.”

From starting out in 1992 as a volunteer assistant football coach to becoming one of Bangor’s most respected leaders, Coach Mosca continues to make an incredible impact both on and off the track.

✨The first coach we would like to honor for National Coaches Day is Bob Winslow from Belfast Area High School!✨

Known as a legend in Maine swimming, Bob Winslow has been the head boys swimming and diving coach at Belfast Area High School for the past 52 years. A steady figure, he lead the Lions to dual meet record of 462-163-6, five state runner-up finishes, and three state championships. During his successful career he was named class B coach of the year five times and class B diving coach of the year two times. In addition to success at the state level, he also led the lions to 18 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B titles and was named KVAC coach of the year 15 times. In 2021, he was inducted into the Maine Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. A great swim coach, Bob is an even greater person who has positively impacted students for over half a century. We want to congratulate Bob on a storied career and wish him well with his recent retirement. Belfast Area High School Information
