Congratulations, Dr. Howland πŸ‘

A peer-reviewed study by Dr. Chad Howland, Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy, was recently published in the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy.

The study, titled β€œContemporary Perspectives in Teaching and Assessment of Thrust Joint Manipulation of the Spine or Pelvis in Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs,” looked at the curricula of nearly 300 accredited physical therapy education programs across the country.

β€œThe hallmark of the study is that we interviewed faculty from other parts of the country to see what they considered to be entry-level competencies in thrust joint manipulation by the time students graduate,” said Howland.

Dr. Ben Sidaway, the Geneva Allen '49 Distinguished Professor in Health Sciences, recently achieved two career milestones. His study, β€œBeam walking increases gait velocity and reduces falls risk in older adults,” was published in the peer-reviewed journal Experimental Gerontology.

He was also invited to work on World Athletics' False Start Committee to help create a proposal to rework regulation on what is considered a false start in track and field events.

Husson University hires 2nd and 3rd year DPT students each year to be lab assistants in the six-week, intensive gross anatomy course. They provide peer-to-peer teaching in the University's Dahl Anatomy Laboratory, along with tutoring and supplemental learning for first year DPT students. We are very proud of our lab assistants and the job they do every day! From left to right, Aidan Crone (DPT YR-3), Roxanne Sasse (DPT YR-2), Hunter Burpee (DPT YR-2), Prentice Archuleta (DPT YR-3), Akira Warren (DPT YR-3), and Lexi Morrarty (DPT YR-3). We wish the DPT YR-3 students the best, as they depart for their clinical experiences after next week.

At the end of the summer session, the Class of 2026 had their pinning ceremony where they received their name tags and a Husson PT polo shirt. This annual tradition signifies the transition from classroom studies to their final two clinical rotations in their final year of the program.

Each year, the Patricia B. Homsted award goes to a PT student who will be pursuing a career in pediatrics. This year we had two worthy students and Larry Homsted was able to provide a scholarship to both. Pictured below on the left is Emily Hinckley, and on the right is Haesel Osuna. Congratulations to you both!

We are so proud of our students and can’t wait to see what else they will achieve in their final year! Best of luck on your final clinicals! πŸ’šπŸ¦…πŸ’›
