The weather forecast says we could get our first storm of the year on Tuesday Dec. 2, 2025. My internet provider has already sent out a text warning customers of possible service outages. As you get ready for this first storm here are some reminders:
- get cash, if the power goes out ATMs will be down and card readers in some stores wont work.
- get your shovel out .
- do you need to pick up ice melt and/or sand?
- have you prepped your snow blower? got gas?

A trick to tell if your frozen foods are still safe after a power outage: put a cup of water in the freezer. Once its frozen put a coin on the ice. If you lose power for to long the ice will melt and the coin will drop to the bottom. As long as the coin stays on top the freezer stayed cold enough to protect your food.
