The hubby and I are in a friendly competition to eat e0 plants a week. He says it will be "eaaaaasy" and I think that we naturally hit 20 easy peezy but the final 10 take intention. Today I am eating apple slices with something he can't have.. peanut butter.

We are doing this just for fun, but it got me wondering...would anyone else be interested in doing a challenge like this?

Today we had a gathering. I grabbed a safe bet snack...Doritos. I was just looking at the bag and noticed this little note "same size new low price" and my first thought was "hmmm wonder what cheap chemical they used" BECAUSE you know damn well the food companies don't care about the people.

1 of 2 things happened here: 1) they replaced an ingredient with a cheaper ingredient or 2) people finally STOPPED buying the $7 bag of chips so they were forced to lower the price.

I've been saying that you can't complain about the price of things and continue to pay that price. I haven't purchased a bag of chips in ages because 1) CHEMICALS and 2) the price! I can make an entire meal of whole foods for less than $7 and have leftovers.

But anyway...my first thought was immediately the ingredients. I did a count...37 ingredients in Doritos 🤣 37! Dafuq. I may be off by 1 or 2 in either direction because it was a huge paragraph of words and chemicals to read and count.

The great thing about stretching is that it works in both directions. In the morning, it wakes your body up. At night, it helps you slow down and let the day go.

Just a few slow movements can shift you into the right energy, no matter what time of day.

Today is the perfect example of me breaking every single sleep rule. I slept in. I didn't move my body at all. I drove (in freezing rain) to the dentist (talk about stress). I didn't eat enough (I mean...I was at the dentist) and when I did it it was on the spicier side. I had caffeine with my dinner (gasp) and I'm on time to be late getting into bed. But oh well...this is real life. I have trained my nervous system to switch off when it's time to sleep, so I have faith I will still sleep very well and wake up rested.

Sleep Rule That Doesn't Work: "Don't eat 3 hours before going to bed."

This rule sounds great in theory...but in real life, most people don't eat dinner at 5 p.m. Between work, kids, sports, and everything else, dinner often happens when it happens.

And here's the part no one talks about:
If you're supposed to be in bed early enough to get 8 hours of sleep, this rule becomes almost impossible to follow.

Eating later doesn't automatically ruin your sleep. Your body can digest and rest at the same time - it just needs a regulated nervous system to do it well.

It's not about the clock.
It's about the state your body is on when you finally get into bed.
