March is National Social Work Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of social workers in healthcare, schools, and communities. The 2026 theme, “Social Work: Uplift. Defend. Transform.”, honors the compassion, advocacy, and dedication social workers bring to improving lives every day.
Established in 1963, this annual recognition highlights the powerful role social workers play in advocating for social justice, supporting vulnerable populations, and strengthening the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
At KBIC’s Anishinaabeg Noojimo Wigamig (People’s Healing Center), our Behavioral Health social workers are a fantastic team who advocate for the health and mental well-being of our tribal community. Their commitment, compassion, and cultural understanding help uplift our community members and provide support when it is needed most.
Our Keweenaw Bay Indian Community is truly blessed to have such a supportive and caring team of social workers. 💙
Please join us in celebrating National Social Work Month by recognizing the dedication of social workers in many settings—including schools, mental health services, and community programs. Their work helps create stronger, healthier communities for all.
