Clinically, it can help reduce pain sensitivity, ease headaches and jaw tension, and support recovery—especially when paired with orthopedic or pelvic physical therapy. When the nervous system feels safe, the body is better able to heal and move well.

Many people shift their training indoors during winter, which makes sense. However, from a physical therapy perspective, repetitive indoor training often places stress on the same tissues without much variation.

By late winter, we commonly see increases in hip, knee, foot, and low-back symptoms—not due to poor effort, but due to cumulative load.

Incorporating cross-training, mobility work, and recovery days helps maintain tissue health and reduce injury risk as training continues.
