National Caregiver Spotlight | Week 5 of 10 💙
This week, we are honored to recognize Joslynn Mayse from our Sioux Falls, South Dakota office as one of our 2026 National Caregiver Recognition recipients.
Although young, Joslynn brings experience, confidence, and an extraordinary level of compassion to the families she serves.
One daughter shared that after four years as her mother’s full-time caregiver, she was hesitant to bring someone new into their routine. Her mother lives with severe macular degeneration and dementia and does not easily accept help.
But on Joslynn’s first day, everything changed.
When the daughter returned home, her mother was beaming. They had exercised, shared a snack, finished laundry, swept and mopped the floors. Overwhelmed with relief, the daughter cried.
Joslynn simply said, “This is what we do. We are here to help you, too.”
Another family described losing a father to Parkinson’s and navigating a mother’s heart attack within weeks. They wrote that Joslynn wept with them, then helped them carry on. She anticipated needs before they were voiced. She brought laughter into a house that was grieving.
One client shared that when her husband passed away, Joslynn came to see her on her own time. On Veterans Day, she honored him with a card thanking him for his service.
Selected from nearly 4,500 caregivers nationwide, Joslynn represents strength, compassion, and hope in life’s hardest seasons.
One nominator said it best: “Joslynn gives me hope for humankind.”
Joslynn, we are incredibly proud of you. 💙

National Caregiver Spotlight | Week 4 of 10 💙
This week, we are proud to recognize Jennifer Nickell from our Prestonsburg, Kentucky office as one of our 2026 National Caregiver Recognition recipients.
Jennifer was nominated by coworkers, family members, and leadership. Each story carried the same message: she does not quit.
During a severe ice storm in Eastern Kentucky, one of her clients lived up a steep hill that vehicles could not safely access. To ensure he had heat, Jennifer carried gallons of kerosene up the hill on foot, day after day. She carried groceries. She walked when she could not drive.
When another client began having a heart attack during a routine visit, Jennifer immediately recognized the signs, contacted emergency services, and advocated clearly and calmly. Because of her quick thinking, he reached the hospital in time to receive lifesaving care. His family believes he is still here today because of her.
Her dedication doesn’t stop there. She has walked through snow to reach isolated homes in deep hollers. She has checked on clients during storms when roads were impassable. She has cared for clients’ pets while they were hospitalized, even taking one to the vet to ensure it was safe and healthy before its owner returned home.
And she does all of this while raising four grandchildren and serving as the primary caregiver to a medically complex child.
Jennifer was also recognized this year with the Outstanding Leadership & Work with Elders Award from the Kentucky River Area Development District.
Selected from nearly 4,500 caregivers nationwide, Jennifer embodies resilience, advocacy, and a calling to serve.
One supervisor said it best: “It is not a job for her. It is a calling.”
