🚑 Winter Storm Safety Message 🚑
As an upcoming snowstorm approaches our area, the Barnegat First Aid Squad would like to remind all residents to take the necessary steps to prepare and stay safe.
❄️ Be Prepared
• Prepare for possible power outages by having flashlights, batteries, medications, food, and water readily available.
• Charge cell phones and essential devices ahead of the storm.
🚗 Limit Travel
• Please do not drive unless it is an emergency. Roadways may be unplowed, icy, and extremely hazardous.
• Staying off the roads helps emergency responders and snowplows operate safely and efficiently.
🚘 Parking Reminder
• Please park vehicles off the roadway during and after the storm to allow emergency response vehicles and plows safe access down residential streets.
🔥 Fire Hydrant Access
• If there is a fire hydrant on or near your property, please help us by clearing snow from around it.
• Keeping hydrants accessible allows us quicker access during emergencies and can save valuable time.
⚡ Generator Safety
• Generators must be operated outdoors only, away from doors, windows, and vents.
• Never use generators, grills, or propane heaters inside homes, garages, or enclosed spaces.
• Ensure carbon monoxide detectors are working properly.
❄️ Snowblower Safety
• Use caution when operating snowblowers.
• Never place hands or feet near moving parts.
• If the snowblower becomes clogged, turn it off and use a tool to clear it—never your hands.
• Dress warmly and take breaks to avoid overexertion.
