Two races, a hundred years apart, that defined the United States of America. Join Harwich Observatory co-founder Larry Brookhart for a Silver Science presentation at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History exploring how US scientists and engineers tackled the challenges of rail and space on Thursday, April 2nd, at 1pm.
The driving of the golden spike at Promontory Point in Utah on May 10,1869, marked the completion of one of America’s seemingly impossible tasks; to connect the country by rail. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong’s footsteps on the lunar surface marked the realization of another. Larry’s multi-media presentation, with an audience Q&A session afterwards, will explore how they were done.
