Matthew Fast, a 29-year-old Army Reservist and Maryland native, lost his life when his service-related injuries went unrecognized by his healthcare providers. Maryland now requires healthcare providers to ask, “Have you served?” to identify military-connected individuals and address their unique health needs. A service member community member includes:
-Service members
-Veterans
-Spouses of service members or veterans
-Children and stepchildren of service members or veterans
