Hannah's Hope encourages open adoptions for our families. Open adoption can look different for each family. *We do understand that an open adoption is not always possible.

An open adoption relationship is NOT co-parenting and it is NOT shared custody. Hannah’s Hope will always be there with you and always be a resource for you in the future. Relationships of this nature are individual and take time to develop. We typically begin with exchanging cell phone numbers, including the social worker on the thread. Then, the relationship progresses (or not) as the parties feel comfortable.

Every day, women in our community face the fear and uncertainty of an unexpected pregnancy—alone, afraid, and unsure where to turn. Thanks to your past support, Hannah's Hope has been a place of hope, providing practical help, emotional support, and life-changing resources to women in crisis.

But today, we’re facing a serious shortfall. As we approach the end of the year, we’ve discovered that we have an unprecedented number of clients requiring services and supplies. We will fall $8,500 short of the available grant funds needed to meet the needs of the almost 40 pregnant women who are due to have their babies before the end of December. These funds will ensure that our clients have the necessary supplies prior to delivery so that they are able to welcome their babies into safe homes.

That $8,500 represents:

A safe place for counseling and support for dozens of women
Stocked Diaper Bags, Infant Car Seats, Safe Feeding Kits with Breastfeeding Supplies, and Safe Sleep Kits
A caring voice on the other end of the phone when someone feels completely alone

We can’t let even one woman go without help because of a funding gap.

Would you consider making a special gift today to help us finish the year strong? Every dollar—no matter the size—goes directly toward providing compassion, care, and hope to women in need.

Hannah's Hope is proud to help build families of all sorts. Many of our adoptive families are multiracial or multicultural. All are beautiful. This month (and every month) we celebrate them.

🌍❤️ Families come in all colors, cultures, and combinations — and that’s what makes them so beautiful. Love, not appearance, is what defines a family. Whether your family “matches” or not, every hug, every tradition, and every shared moment is a celebration of connection and belonging. Let’s honor the beauty of multicultural families and the unique stories that make each one special.

Continuing on with Positive Adoption Language:
When discussing adoptive families, it’s important to use language that respects and values all family relationships. Instead of saying “real parents,” it’s better to say “birth parents” or “biological parents” when referring to a child’s family of origin, and “adoptive parents” when referring to the parents raising the child. This distinction recognizes each role without implying that one is more genuine or important than the other. Using respectful, accurate terms helps affirm that adoptive families are just as real and loving as any other family.

When speaking about adoption, it is very important to use Positive Adoption Language, or PAL. Using PAL is important because it shows respect for everyone involved in the adoption process—birth parents, adoptive parents, and adoptees. The words we choose shape how adoption is understood and valued in society. Positive language helps reduce stigma, promotes empathy, and affirms that adoption is a valid and loving way to build a family. It encourages open, compassionate conversations and honors each person’s experience and identity.

Today's example of Positive Adoption Language: A woman does not "give up" or "put up" her baby for adoption. Instead, we say that a woman "made an adoption plan" for her child.
One way to remember this is that we "give up" a bad habit, and we "put up" something that we are saving for later. A mother "makes a plan" for her baby by ensuring he/she has a forever family.

“Adoption is just as beautiful, just as wonderful, as having a child any other way.”

Family is built on love — not biology, not circumstance, but the deep connection that grows when hearts choose each other. 💕

To every parent who opened their arms, and to every child who found their forever home — your story is proof that love always finds a way. 💫

November is Adoption Awareness Month in the US. This month we will take time to answer some of our most frequently asked questions about the adoption process (specific to Hannah's Hope). Every agency has its own unique requirements, and other requirements are dictated by the state in which an agency is licensed. Hannah's Hope is licensed only in the state of Tennessee.

November is National Adoption Month. It is the month when the broader community acknowledges the efforts of those whose lives have been impacted by adoption and who facilitate the process. This month helps spread awareness and encourages all of us to learn about adoption. National Adoption Month celebrates the families who have grown through adoption.

Hannah's Hope is proud to help build healthy families through adoption. Throughout this month, we will share information and stories about the various aspects of adoption.
