Conflict occurs when there are two or more needs on the table at the same time. Counseling can help identify the need, and suddenly everything changes.

Do you know that a licensed professional counselor (LPC) has a minimum of a master's level degree in a qualifying mental health field, and has met thousands of hours of required internship before becoming fully licensed? They may or may not take insurance.

A person may call themselves a psychotherapist, a counselor, or a neuroscientist without having a degree in mental health or neuroscience. They won't be able to take insurance.

A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) is licensed and qualified to provide mental health counseling. They may or may not take insurance.

A biblical counselor may have had graduate coursework or a graduate degree in biblical counseling or may be a "lay" counselor. They won't be able to take insurance.

Someone needs to hear this - You are a woman with a lifetime of wisdom gained from experience. Those wrinkles are marks of smiles and sometimes past worries. Those teeth that aren't perfect? They have served you for 50 or 60+ years. That not perfectly flat belly carried and birthed your child(ren), or maybe carried the pain of never having that experience of motherhood. Your wrinkled hands have served many. You matter. Your voice matters. You are not invisible to God. Your stories matter, even the ones you never dared speak aloud. Your wisdom is needed. You have a voice. Your beauty is more than skin deep.

Online sextortion is a growing threat to minors, and awareness is one of the strongest tools we have to stop it. Sextortion happens when someone pressures, manipulates, or threatens a young person into sharing private images or information then uses those images to demand more.

What kids and teens should know:

Anyone can be targeted. Offenders often pretend to be peers, use fake profiles, or offer gifts or attention.

Never share private images. Even with someone you trust once it’s online, it can be misused.

If something feels wrong, it is wrong. Trust your instincts.

You won’t get in trouble for asking for help. Parents, teachers, and law enforcement want to protect you, not punish you.

Save the evidence and report it. Do not delete messages or images; they help investigators stop the offender.

If a child is targeted:

Stop all communication

Do not pay or send more images

Tell a trusted adult immediately

Report to law enforcement

Protecting kids starts with conversations. Attached is a graph made by the Department of Homeland Security.

Parental alienation is not a syndrome and is not recognized as child abuse or as a syndrome or diagnosis. Parental alienation is explained as "manipulating the child(ren) to sway their view of and desire to be with the other parent". It has been used in high-conflict custody/divorce cases, often by father's rights groups. When a child(ren) does not want to spend time with one parent and/or doesn't respect them, parental alienation is a term used by the rejected parent against the other parent.

Wanting to protect a child from suspected abuse or neglect is not parental alienation.

Telling a child that their other parent is "crazy" or "stupid" leans strongly towards trying to alienate them from the other parent but could backfire.

Validating a child's feelings is not parental alienation. Is there a reason for not wanting to spend time with the other parent or at their home?

Expecting a child to want to spend time with someone who they saw assault and verbally abuse the other parent is often what is forced on children.

Are we really out for the child's best interest? When it comes to child custody, take yourself out of the ring long enough to see the confused little faces you love who are being thrust into something painful they didn't choose and aren't responsible for.
