One of my clients who is fairly new said he wanted to get 100,000 steps in a week as a weekly goal.
That is over 5 million steps per year. So the first thing I recommended before we even started training was to go see a podiatrist to make sure he has the right shoes for walking / and working out.
I have run many marathons all over the world and besides the training, footwear was a crucial component to succeed and also prevent injuries. I also have inserts in my golf shoes. I am also pain free. No plantar fasciitis or tight Achilles tendon.
Think about it. If you are taking 4-5 million steps per year that’s over 40 million steps over a 10 year period. So I have flat feet for example so my podiatrist recommended an arch support insert for all my shoes which is one of the reasons my feet and legs feel great. Not just from strength training.
I try to diagnose little things that people might miss before they set forth on fitness goals of any kind.
Are you checking all the other boxes for your optimum health. Nutrition? Food allergies ? Massage ?
Acupuncture? Meditation? Stretching after a workout ? Foam Rolling ? Hormonal imbalance ?
Low Testosterone?
Hope this helps.
