MLB catcher and first baseman Mickey Gasper came by for a DEXA scan as part of his fitness and sports performance regimen. You can imagine what his bone density and muscle mass readings were. Was awesome to meet him in person in this neck of the woods in NJ!

The DEXA bone densitometer uses small amounts of X-ray to
produce the total body image. The X-ray is composed of two
energy levels that are absorbed differently by bone, lean
and fat tissues. These differences in absorption are used to
determine bone mineral density (BMD) and body composition
values. A computer software application assists in determining
the amount of bone, lean and fat tissues across the whole body
and in specific regions. If you’re wondering about how much radiation your body is being exposed to during a DEXA scan- don’t worry too much- it’s equivalent to eating six bananas or walking outside on a sunny day for a few hours.

Come to DexaFit Central Jersey for your VO2 Max test! VO2 max, or maximal oxygen consumption, measures the maximum amount of oxygen the body can use during intense exercise. It’s considered the gold standard for determining cardiorespiratory fitness and aerobic endurance. A higher VO2 max indicates the body is better at using oxygen to deliver energy to muscles to perform work, ie movement.
