Happy Earth Day! 🌎💚

Today I’m celebrating by making a small but meaningful switch for the planet 🌱 I recently purchased *Pooch Paper* — an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic dog waste bags. These sheets are made from recycled paper and are 100% plastic-free, biodegradable, and compostable 🙌🐾

This choice also aligns perfectly with what my business is all about — supporting our pets in natural, sustainable ways. From using essential oils, to raw feeding (providing fresh, non-processed foods), to making mindful product swaps like this, I truly believe that a healthier lifestyle for our pets goes hand in hand with a healthier planet 🌿🐶

Every little change adds up, and choosing products like this helps reduce plastic waste while supporting a more natural way of living for both us and our animals 💚

Caring for our pets and caring for the Earth go hand in hand — and I’m proud to be part of both 🌍✨

It’s been a hot minute since I shared a peek at what’s in my dogs’ dinner bowls 🐾✨

Tonight’s meal looks a little different—there are a few things missing and a few swaps made—but that’s the beauty of feeding fresh. I worked with what I had in the refrigerator, and the main protein is still the star of the show 🍽️

This is your reminder that just because you don’t have “dog food” at home doesn’t mean you can’t nourish your dog with a wholesome, balanced meal. Real food, thoughtfully put together, can go a long way in supporting their health and vitality 💚

Every bowl doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be intentional.

So tell me… what’s in your dog’s food? 🐶👇

🐣🌷 Easter Safety Tips for Your Dog 🌷🐾

As you prep for a fun Easter celebration, don’t forget to plan for your pup, too! Many holiday treats and traditions can be risky for dogs—but with a little awareness, everyone can enjoy the day safely.

🐾 Skip the table scraps – Chocolate, sweets and certain foods can be harmful. Even rich or salty foods can upset your dog’s tummy. Stick with cooked, plain green beans or sweet potatoes (minus the butter!) if you'd like to share a bit of your meal.

🍹 Watch the drinks – Alcohol is toxic to pets, so keep glasses out of reach.

🥚 Egg hunt awareness – Plastic eggs, candy, and small toys can be choking hazards or cause blockages. Keep pups out of the hunt or closely supervised.

🌸 Be mindful of plants – Easter lilies are beautiful but toxic to pets.

🎁 Check those baskets – Plastic grass and candy wrappers can be dangerous if ingested.

💛 Create a calm space – With guests and excitement, some dogs may feel overwhelmed. Give them a quiet area to relax if needed. Diffusing their favorite calming essential oil in this space can help, too.

🐶 Want to include your pup? Make them their own Easter basket or set up a dog-safe “egg hunt” with treats and toys!

Wishing you and your furry family a safe, happy, and tail-wagging Easter! 🐣🐕💐

Garlic for dogs 🧄…let’s clear this up 👇

Garlic often gets labeled “toxic” because it’s related to onions, but here’s the nuance: garlic contains about 1/15th the amount of the compound linked to toxicity and is actually recognized as a safe ingredient in commercial pet foods (AAFCO).

In small, appropriate amounts, garlic provides allicin, which may support:
❤️ Heart health
🛡️ Immune function
🦠 Antimicrobial support

The studies often cited to claim harm? They used extreme doses…the equivalent of feeding a 70 lb dog ~245 cloves of garlic in one week (yes, really). Even then, no dogs showed outward symptoms, just minor microscopic changes in some red blood cells.

The amounts in this graphic fall well within safe daily feeding guidelines 👍

🐈 For added context: the National Research Council has even set a historical safe intake for cats at 17 mg/kg of body weight, further highlighting that dose matters.

Bottom line:
Garlic isn’t the villain - it’s the amount that matters.

📌 Save this for reference & always stick to proper serving sizes 🐶🐱

We love going the extra mile for our pet care clients 💓

This week, A Single Drop partnered with Happy Walks Pet Sitting to care for 3 sweet cats while their family was away on vacation. To say thank you for trusting us, we left a small gift featuring a cat planter, fresh cat grass seeds, a toy mouse, and a heartfelt card.

Providing peace of mind—and a little extra love—is what collaboration in pet wellness is all about. 🐾

🌩️🐾 Storm prep at our house tonight!

With all the thunder and lightning rolling through, we’ve got our basement ready just in case — flashlights, candles, dog treats, leashes, food, water, and all the essentials so the pups (and us!) can stay safe and comfy.

I also plugged in one of my favorite rechargeable doTERRA diffusers - the Roam diffuser- and have lavender 🌿 running for the dogs. Storms can make many animals nervous, and lavender is a great oil for helping promote calm. This diffuser is perfect for nights like this — it can run on battery for up to 4 hours and even has a soft light that doubles as a night light if the power goes out.

Some other great calming oils for stormy nights:
🌿 Lavender
🌿 Roman Chamomile
🌿 Frankincense

(Always diffuse gently and give animals the option to leave the space.)

How are your animals handling the storms tonight? 🐶💜

✨ Red Light Therapy for Animals ✨

One of the natural wellness tools I’ve been learning more about lately is red light therapy for our animal companions. Many holistic pet parents and animal care professionals are exploring it as a gentle, non-invasive way to support overall wellness.

So what is it?

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that interact with the body’s tissues. The light energy is absorbed by cells and may help support the body’s natural processes.

Pet parents often use red light therapy to help support:

🐾 Healthy circulation
🐾 Muscle comfort after activity
🐾 Joint mobility as animals age
🐾 Skin and coat wellness
🐾 General recovery after exercise or physical stress

💜 A little personal experience:
After both of my dogs had dental procedures, our veterinarian used red light therapy as part of their recovery. I personally noticed that it seemed to help support their comfort afterward, and their gums appeared to calm down more quickly with less visible inflammation during the healing process.

Many animals enjoy the sessions because the light feels warm and relaxing. It’s commonly used for dogs, cats, horses, and other animals as part of a holistic wellness routine.

Just like with essential oils and other natural approaches, every animal is unique. Red light therapy isn’t meant to diagnose, treat, or replace veterinary care, but it can be a supportive tool many people add alongside good nutrition, movement, and regular vet checkups.

Natural wellness for our animals is all about supporting their bodies in gentle ways so they can thrive. 🐕🐈🐎

Have you ever tried red light therapy with your pets or animals? I’d love to hear your experiences! 🌿🐾
