We are closing the Community Safe Room as a Warming Center at this time.

Thank you to those who manned the Warming Center and to those who volunteered their assistance.

We want to provide a place for those needing shelter during the upcoming extreme weather conditions. The Southaven Community Safe Room will open on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Noon as a Warming Center.

Please direct anyone needing a warm place to stay to our Community Safe Room located at 7312 Highway 51 N. in Southaven, MS.
*edit to note: We apologize for any inconvenience, but per FEMA guidelines, pets are not allowed.

🚒 Lafayette County Fire Department – Power-Dependent Medical Devices (Optional Form) 🚒

Do you or someone in your home rely on a medical device that requires electricity (oxygen concentrator, ventilator, dialysis support equipment, etc.)?

We’re asking residents to complete this optional form so we can be aware of where power-dependent medical needs may exist in the event of a long-term power outage. You are not required to answer every question—share only what you’re comfortable providing.

This information helps us:
✅ Identify areas where residents may need assistance during extended outages
✅ Better plan wellness checks and resource coordination
✅ Respond more effectively when conditions are hazardous

If you know a neighbor, family member, or friend who depends on a power-reliant medical device, please consider sharing this post with them.

Panola County Warming Centers

All the following facilities are Warming Centers only, not a shelter. These are for individuals to come for a period of time to warm and charge devices. Centers do not provide food. Bottled water will be available at each location. Facilities are not set up to secure animals, so NO pets permitted.

The following warming centers will open when the request/needs arise as long as they have power at these facilities. They will only operate during listed hours and are for warming purposes only. Hours: 11am – 5pm daily Saturday – Tuesday.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE POWER SOURCE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN TO RELOCATE TO FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS OR A LOCAL EMERGENCY SHELTER THAT HAS ALTERNATIVE POWER.
