Members of the Bath VA Fire Department join with neighboring volunteer departments on the closing day of a state-run Confined Space Rescue Technician course.

The course, taught by instructors from the NY State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, is designed to better prepare the firefighters to respond to emergencies in confined spaces.

A big thanks to the Bath boiler plant for allowing the firefighters to train in their shop.

If you've been caught up in the fast-growing sport of pickleball, show off your skills while helping send local Veterans to compete in the 2026 VA Golden Age Games this summer.

In A Pickle, an indoor pickleball club in Canandaigua, will host a fund-raising tournament May 9 to give Vets an opportunity to take part in the annual games this summer in Tampa, Florida.

Open to Veterans age 55 and up, the Golden Age Games offer 21 medaled events, promoting fitness, healthy aging, and the therapeutic value of sports for seniors.

Many thanks to the Phelps American Legion Post 457 for hosting a recent breakfast outing for Veterans from the Canandaigua VA Community Living Center.

Legion members, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary were welcoming hosts for this fun event.

And we salute the efforts of our own VA Transportation and Recreation Therapy staff and volunteers for planning and coordinating this opportunity -- and getting us there and back.

St. Patrick's Day didn't go uncelebrated by Veterans from Canandaigua VA's Community Living Center this week.

Some took part in an Interdisciplinary Baking Group alongside Dieticians Katherine and Nicole, and Recreation Therapist Morgan to make Irish Potato Candy and Pot of Gold Pineapple Punch. Others toasted with a knock-off version of "sham-rock" shakes.
