Today we served more than 100 Veterans at our mini Stand Down in Canandaigua.

We are blessed to be part of a community that values Veterans and rallies together to provide resources, services, support, and goods. Thank you to all of our community partners and VA program representatives. A special thank you to our Homeless team for organizing the event, Air Force Veteran Eric Foster for singing a beautiful National Anthem, the American Legion in Canandaigua for graciously hosting us, and Perry’s Pizza in Rochester for providing lunch.

If you've been caught up in the fast-growing sport of pickleball, show off your skills while helping send local Veterans to compete in the 2026 VA Golden Age Games this summer.

In A Pickle, an indoor pickleball club in Canandaigua, will host a fund-raising tournament May 9 to give Vets an opportunity to take part in the annual games this summer in Tampa, Florida.

Open to Veterans age 55 and up, the Golden Age Games offer 21 medaled events, promoting fitness, healthy aging, and the therapeutic value of sports for seniors.

Time to get out of the house and celebrate Spring with the opening of the Finger Lakes Veteran Connection Cafe at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center on Thursday, May 7.

The Connection Cafe will be open the first Thursday of every month, giving local Veterans a chance to meet with old friends and make some new ones over coffee -- or tea -- while learning about resources available to them.

The Rochester Calkins VA Clinic also hosts a Connection Cafe the third Friday of every month. Both cafes are open to all Veterans enrolled in VA Finger Lakes Healthcare.

If you're a donor at the upcoming blood drive at Canandaigua VA Medical Center, you could come away with even more than the great feeling that comes from performing a selfless act that could save lives.

Blood donors will also qualify for a $15 e-gift card at the drive, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Building 5 Auditorium at 400 Fort Hill Ave.
