Inside Sound: an evening of experimental music at YOGA*VSC with Che Chen, Sherlock Terry, and Greg Davis. September 15th, 7pm.
Admission is free with a suggested donation of $10. The doors open at 6:45 p.m. and there is limited seating so arrive early.
Inside Sound will feature a collaborative performance between New York-based sound artist Che Chen and Vermont artist Sherlock Terry and a solo performance with projections by Burlington-based musician/composer Greg Davis. Drawing on Indian music, Minimalism, and the outsider tradition of instrument building composers, Che Chen and Sherlock Terry's collaborative work is rooted in the sonic potential contained within a single note. Using zithers, monochords, _and lap steel guitars that they have built or modified to their own designs, the sound world of the piece is one of harmonic tunings, vibrating strings, long resonant decays and meditative, minimal structures.
