Dear EBR Families,

Out of an abundance of caution due to the winter weather, possible icy road conditions and power outages expected on Monday, East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will move to an asynchronous learning day on Monday, January 26.

Students will not report to school in person. Teachers will provide assignments and learning activities for students to complete at home, and families should monitor school and teacher communications for specific instructions.

We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and remain in communication with local meteorologists. Any additional updates will be shared as soon as they are available.

🌱💚 We LOVE a good collaboration—especially one that grows! 💚🌱

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System Child Nutrition Program is incredibly thankful for our partnership with the Center of Excellence on this meaningful and inspiring initiative at Istrouma High School.

Transforming retired filing cabinets into a thriving garden is a powerful example of creativity, sustainability, and student-centered learning 🌿.

We sincerely appreciate the support from Center of Excellence for Nutrition, Health, Wellness, and Quality of Life, whose contribution of plants, soil, and expertise helped bring this vision to life. Seeing the project grow to 27 file cabinet gardens—and counting—is truly inspiring 🥬✨

Most importantly, we are grateful that the fresh produce grown will be incorporated into student meals, reinforcing the connection between nutrition, education, and real-world learning 🍽️💛

Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication to our students, our schools, and a healthier future.

EBR Child Nutrition Program would LOVE your helping hands! 💙💛

Our cafeterias are looking for friendly volunteers to support our teams as we serve healthy meals and brighten our students’ day. Whether you’re available once a week or once a month, your time makes a BIG difference!

👋 Volunteer Roles May Include:
✨ Light food service assistance
✨ Simple computer entry
✨ General support for the cafeteria team

👉 Important Note: Volunteers will not supervise or work one-on-one with students. An EBR CNP staff member will always be present during volunteer activities.

📸 Proud Moment for EBR CNP!

Our Child Nutrition Program staff had the honor of standing alongside Superintendent Lamont Cole and Associate Superintendent Adam Smith to receive a generous $10,000 grant from ExxonMobil!

💛 Thank you, ExxonMobil, for investing in our students, families, and community. This support will help us expand our Summer Feeding Lunch on the Geaux program, ensuring more children across East Baton Rouge Parish have access to nutritious meals all summer long.

Together, we are fueling minds, filling hearts, and feeding the future! 🚌🥗✨
