Alzheimer's Services Of The Capital Area

Alzheimer's Services Of The Capital Area Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area is a non-profit organization based in Baton Rouge, LA.

Alzheimer’s Services is not affiliated with a national organization; therefore, all funds raised remain in our 10-parish service area to fulfill our mission of making a significant difference in the lives of those coping with Alzheimer’s disease. We do this through our 3 core principles of teaching, caring and connecting. We have an award-winning day center, Charlie's Place Respite Center, a program for individuals with early to mild stage Alzheimer’s and dementia-related disorders designed to provide cognitive stimulation and social interaction. We also have several support and educational programs to help guide caregivers and those affected along the arduous journey that is Alzheimer's disease. Our resource library offers endless materials from educations DVDs to pamphlets on numerous topics to local care options. We are your local resource for everything related to Alzheimer's disease.

Newly formed non-profit "Alzheimer's Dance Advocates, Inc.", under direction of Astrid Clements and the 2026 Ball Committee, met with Executive Director Barbara Auten for the check presentation of proceeds to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area. On January 24, 2026, the inaugural Alzheimer’s Ball was held at the City Club of Baton Rouge to bring awareness of the benefits of ballroom dancing to those with Alzheimer's disease and to raise funds for the organization. Clements is credited with creating the new non-profit, serves as a member of the Alzheimer’s Services board of directors and is herself an avid ballroom dancer.
