Christmas has officially arrived at St. James Place! Billy Heroman’s Flowers & Gifts Plantscaping is on campus today, filling our community with gorgeous wreaths, garlands, and trees. Every corner is beginning to glow with holiday cheer, and our residents and team members are already feeling the spirit of the season.🎄

This afternoon brought the sweetest sight - Ms. Judith creating beautiful artwork alongside her three granddaughters in the Art Studio. What a joy to see! Moments like these fill our community with love and laughter. Holiday visits from family always bring such a special sparkle to our residents’ days.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Grand Re-Opening of Duplantier Commons and the unveiling of The Levy Gallery of St. James Place. The celebration was truly special - from the beautifully remodeled spaces and delicious catering by Don Bergeron Catering, to the lively music of the Benjamin Herringbone Band, and a stunning art sale featuring original Byron Levy paintings generously donated by his family to benefit St. James Place Foundation.
We were honored to have members of the Levy family with us. It was a joy to show them the permanent gallery of Byron Levy’s paintings created during his time at St. James Place, along with a digital kiosk of his works and a display of his personal items.
A heartfelt thank-you to Cindy Levy, Ellen and Ron Levy, and Colin Levy for traveling to be part of this meaningful occasion. Your presence made the evening unforgettable.

Today, Rabbi Sarah Smiley shared the honor of performing a beautiful mitzvah as we affixed a mezuzah to the entrance of The Levy Gallery of St. James Place in our newly renovated Duplantier Commons.
This ancient symbol calls us to remember the words of the Eternal One and to live by the values that guide our community. As we placed the mezuzah on the doorpost, we did so with the hope that it will serve as a continual reminder of our responsibility to bring those values to life.
May the Divine Spirit fill this new space, and may the sacred words written on the scroll within the mezuzah connect us to the generations who came before us and inspire those yet to come as we dedicate this meaningful place.

We were honored to welcome District 12 Metro Council Member Jennifer Racca and Fred Raiford, EBR Director of Transportation and Drainage, to St. James Place this week!
They shared an informative presentation and discussion about the Lee Drive Expansion Project, which will include important capacity improvements along with complete streets components designed to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and bicyclists.
A big thank-you to Council Member Racca and Director Raiford for taking the time to update our community on this impactful project.

We’re thrilled to share that St. James Place was nationally recognized with the Humana Spirit Award for Active Aging Week!
Our campus came alive with energy, connection, and joy last week as residents and staff celebrated wellness in every dimension. From start to finish, the week was filled with meaningful moments, laughter, and community spirit.
We kicked things off with a campus-wide Chair Fitness class - bringing together residents from Independent Living, Assisted Living, and even our clergy! One standout favorite? The “Golden Glam” photo booth, where residents dressed to the nines and flashed their best smiles.
Throughout the week, we mixed fun with learning:
Wellness Jeopardy tested our knowledge in a lively game-show format
Outdoor games in the Butterfly Garden offered fresh air and friendly competition (our giant Jenga game got intense!)
The Decades Dash had participants walking the one-mile loop in fabulous 50s, 60s, and 70s fashion, followed by a festive finish line celebration with dancing, food, and nostalgic fun.
We are so proud of our community for embracing Active Aging Week with such enthusiasm - and honored to be recognized for it. This is just the beginning of a new tradition at St. James Place, where aging actively and joyfully is something to celebrate!

Our residents were treated to a very special day yesterday, filled with pampering, joy, and unforgettable moments.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our volunteers, residents enjoyed professional hair and makeup sessions, followed by a fabulous photoshoot that captured their radiant smiles and timeless elegance. Even a few beloved resident pups and visiting family members joined in the fun, making the day even more heartwarming!
A heartfelt thank you to: Cindy Martrain & Melissa Gulotta, Mary Kay Representatives; Jennifer Major, PS Salon & Spa; and Monique Larroux, Dignity Memorial, who also treated everyone to a delicious spread from Cajun Catering.
We can’t wait to see how fabulous the photos turn out!
