THE 2026 CROSSFIT OPEN IS HERE AND RSHP IS READY!

Every year there’s a moment when the energy inside the gym shifts.
People cheer louder.
Athletes push harder.
The community comes together in a different way.
That moment is the CrossFit Open and it starts this week!

WHAT IS THE OPEN?
The Open is a 3 week worldwide event where athletes complete one workout each week.

But here’s the truth…

At RSHP, it’s not about competition.
It’s about showing up.
Trying something that challenges you.
And realizing you’re stronger than you thought.
Whether this is your first Open or your 10th, you belong here.

HOW WE’RE DOING IT AT RSHP…

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Each week we’ll run Open heats on Friday nights.
This is your chance to:
✔️ Throw down with your community
✔️ Cheer each other on
✔️ Feel the energy that makes RSHP special

MONDAY CLASSES
Can’t make Friday night?
No problem.
Each Open workout will be programmed into Monday classes so EVERYONE gets to experience it.
No one gets left out.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?
You.
Seriously.

Scaled athletes.
Competitive athletes.
Anyone who wants to grow.
The Open isn’t about being the best in the gym.

Today, we say farewell and good luck to Coach Austin. His last coaching class at RSHP is at 4:30pm today.

From his very first day in Baton Rouge, when a “quick meeting” with Andrew turned into an hour-long conversation, we knew he was one of our people.

Austin started his fitness journey like many do: humbled, out of shape, and figuring it out as he went. Over time, he became the quiet encourager, the brutally honest coach, the one who would tell you exactly how bad the workout was going to feel…and then stand by you while you did it anyway.

He coached with calm energy, great music, and a deep belief that effort matters more than ego.

As Austin and his wife head to Washington, DC for his next career chapter, we’re incredibly proud of him and so grateful for the impact he’s had on this community.

RSHP will always be part of your story, Austin.
And you’ll always be part of ours. ❤️

Tomorrow at RSHP in Mid City Baton Rouge, we’re kicking off Girl WOD Tuesdays with the iconic CrossFit benchmark workout…CINDY!

Cindy is a 20-minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of:
• 5 pull-ups
• 10 push-ups
• 15 air squats

This workout is simple on paper…but it’s one of the best tests of conditioning, muscular endurance, and mental toughness. It’s also PERFECT if you’re newer to CrossFit because it’s easy to scale and easy to track progress over time.

How to tackle Cindy like a pro:
* Start conservative: The first 3 minutes should feel “too easy”
* Break early (especially push-ups) so you don’t hit a wall
* Stay consistent: Smooth rounds beat chaos every time
Breathe through the squats and use them as your reset

Scaling options (so everyone can play):
* Pull-ups: ring rows, banded, jumping
* Push-ups: elevated on a box/bench, knees, reduced reps
* Squats: to a target/box, reduced reps

This is one of those workouts that makes you feel like a badass when you’re done.

Whether you’re training for CrossFit performance, Hyrox conditioning, fat loss, strength, or just feeling confident in your body, Cindy delivers.

The year 2016 at Red Stick CrossFit was an ERA in Mid City, Baton Rouge.

If you were here back then… you already know: the Open was LOUD, the PRs were earned, we trained hard, and played harder.

But what we remember most about those days wasn’t the workouts…

It was the people.
It was showing up when life got heavy.
It was gutting homes after the flood.
It was celebrating wins AND surviving chaos together.

2016 was loud. It was gritty. It was community in the purest form.
