The goal of the Developmental Disabilities Council is to effectively implement the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 in Louisiana. Way to go Council member Jude Boynton and his brother Logan! Two rising stars when it comes to advocacy. We’re proud to advocate side by side with both of you!

To celebrate Developmental Disabilities Month National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities

South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority is shining the spotlight on Logan and Jude Boynton.

Logan and Jude Boynton are brothers who are passionate about supporting others with developmental disabilities. They are both very active in the community.
Logan loves Special Olympics, working for Youth Leadership Forum and volunteering as an usher at church. He is most proud of his most recent work as a Self-Advocate through Partners in Policymaking. Those who encourage him most are his mom, dad, Ms. April, and his girlfriend and her family. He is known for being helpful, kind hearted and encouraging to others. Logan feels Supports and Services he receives has helped him gain independent skills. He would like the community to know that individuals with Developmental Disabilities are some of the most kind hearted, hardworking, and helpful individuals you will ever meet.
Jude loves advocating, volunteering at church, going to Bridge to Independence program and spending time with his friends. He is on the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (LADDC) a graduate of 2024 Partners in Policymaking class. He is a great speaker and passionate about his advocating for those who have developmental disabilities. Those who encourage him most are his mom and dad, his girlfriend, Ms. April, Ms. Rebecca, and Ms. Julie. One of his most proud achievements was speaking at the Senate finance committee, twice. Getting to advocate and give testimony at the Capitol made him feel included in the community. He has most recently learned to operate A/V technology and is working on learning how to do podcast. Jude feels his Supports and Services have made it possible for him to attend college at The Bridge for Independence, through Nicholls State University. He would like the community to know that people with disabilities have dreams and goals just like those without disabilities and they want to be included and valued.

Our Story

We envision a system of services and supports in Louisiana which enable individuals with developmental disabilities to exercise self-determination, be independent, productive and integrated and included in all facets of community life.

The Council’s mission is to lead and promote advocacy, capacity building, and systemic change to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The goal of the Developmental Disabilities Council is to effectively implement the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 in Louisiana.
