Options Foundation was organized in 1994 opening their first HUD Independent Living Project in 1999, offering 20 two-bedroom apartments serving forty individuals. Options further expanded and currently serves over 100 mentally ill adults. The variety of housing options include Louisiana State licensed group homes and multiple independent living facilities with supportive services. Options Foundati
on recognizes and supports the need for a residential treatment program for mentally ill adults offering an opportunity to receive needed treatment and rehabilitation. The overall purpose of OFI, in providing residential treatment, is to enable individuals to become integrated and productive members of their community. Options Foundation’s objective is to provide the chronically mentally ill with the resources necessary to improve their situation. Options currently have four housing programs in the Baton Rouge and surrounding area. Option’s housing facilities have program directors, LPNs, mental health technicians, caseworkers, tenant facilitators and resident managers who work on a daily basis assisting the residents. OFI is currently offering educational/support groups at our housing programs in life skills/job training nutrition/exercise, art therapy and drug abuse.
