So much of the anger we see in the world is really just pain in disguise. Anger is sharp, fiery, and easier to carry than the heavy weight of loneliness, grief, or despair. That’s why we often direct it outward toward strangers, leaders, or public figures because it feels safer to fight an external “enemy” than to face the wounds within ourselves.

Until we look at those earlier hurts, the world will keep giving us new enemies to battle. Our nervous system is wired to scan for the familiar, so when someone stirs up echoes of our old pain, we mistake them for the source. In reality, they’re only the mirror.

When we find the courage to turn inward and tend to those deeper wounds, anger softens into sorrow, sorrow opens to compassion, and compassion brings us back to connection. Connection,not division, is what heals us, and the world around us.
