Struggling with the weight of past trauma? EMDR therapy offers a unique approach to help you process and heal from those painful memories. By mimicking the brain's natural processing during REM sleep, EMDR allows you to integrate your experiences without feeling overwhelmed.

Read the article below to learn more about how EMDR can help you regain control over your emotional responses.

We were both in two places at once. We were in the therapy room, having a completely normal conversation. And we were also in the midst of a car crash: one she experienced first hand and where my imagination was putting its own “footage” together based on her descriptions. She lived the event an...

Launching into adulthood isn’t just about independence — it’s about confidence, identity, and values.

We work with emerging adults who feel stuck or unsure how to move forward — and with parents who want support that respects both faith and autonomy.

The goal isn’t just coping. It’s clarity.

Authentic friendships are built on a foundation of trust, but reaching that level of depth requires a specific kind of courage: vulnerability.

Many people mistake vulnerability for oversharing or weakness. In reality, it is the intentional act of being seen as you are, which is the only way to build a truly resilient connection. If you have ever felt that your friendships are stuck on the surface, it may be time to evaluate how much of your true self you are allowing others to see.

Our latest blog explores navigating this process, including:

How to gauge when a friend has earned the right to hear your story.

Starting with low-stakes honesty to build comfort.

The difference between healthy vulnerability and emotional dumping.

How opening up actually invites others to do the same.

The barriers we create to protect ourselves are often the same ones that prevent us from feeling known. If you are ready to move toward deeper, more meaningful relationships, you may enjoy reading.

Learn how to be vulnerable with friends and discover why sharing emotions in the moment can deepen connection and bring greater meaning to relationships.

When Louisiana flips from 80° to a freeze overnight, I think about the fruit trees. Bare, but still rooted.

Life can feel like that, too. Suddenly, the kids move out of the house, betrayal blindsides you, or a job disappears—and you're left standing there wondering, Who am I now?

Here's the hope: this pause isn't the end of your story. Beneath every title, you are still wonderfully made, fully seen, and deeply loved by God.

If you're in a hard season, breathe. Spring is coming.

And if you need support along the way, therapy can help you rediscover the strength that's still there.

Another freezing cold snap here in Louisiana right after a high of 80 degrees the day before. I cannot stop thinking about my fruit trees again, the cherry, the satsuma, and those three fig trees. Another freezing suddenly temp drop, will they make it through this one, if they do they will be bear w...

Many people come to counseling not because life is falling apart — but because holding it together has become exhausting.

You can be capable, responsible, and successful… and still know something isn’t working the way it should.

At Crossroads, we work with people who are functioning well — and ready for clarity, connection, and depth.

You don’t have to wait for things to break to take the warning signs seriously!

Most of us think we are our loudest trait.

"I'm just an angry person."
"I'm just bad at conflict."
"I'm just not emotionally wired like that."

But what if that isn't your identity?

What if it's just one slider turned up too high?

In this week's blog, I share an analogy I use often in therapy — your life as a soundboard.

Growth isn't uniform.
Maturity isn't perfection.
And you are not your loudest fader.

If you've ever felt frustrated by uneven growth in yourself (or someone you love), this one is for you.

If you’re like me, you often think, learn, or process in terms of analogies. One analogy that I’ve found myself discussing in session quite a lot lately is that of a soundboard.Have you ever seen a soundboard at a concert or even at church? It’s the big electronic board that has a bunch of lig...

Understanding the difference is essential for growth.

Read this article to learn how to protect your heart while setting boundaries that promote connection.

In this article, we explore how to set up healthy boundaries instead of building emotional walls. When we get hurt, our first instinct is…

Some experiences don’t need years of talk therapy — they need skilled, focused intervention.

EMDR can be effective for 1) people seeking targeted support after a recent overwhelming or traumatic experience or 2) those who feel like their past experiences are plaguing their present-day relationships and responses.

Our clinicians are trained to handle high-intensity material with steadiness, care, and respect for your pace.

I've written that line after pages of worry and overthinking in my journals. And every time, it marks a shift in perspective.

When I stop focusing on myself and turn back to God, and toward others, something shifts. Gratitude replaces complaint. Clarity comes. God moves.

If you feel stuck in a loop today:
Bring it to God.
Let it go.
Turn outward.
Trust Him.

He is faithful.
