Neurologist and Epileptologist Dr. Kuldeep Patel was a guest speaker at the annual Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana “Stand for Epilepsy” event earlier this week held at LSU.

It was a wonderful evening led by Matt Moscona, bringing together patients, families, and advocates to educate, inspire, and raise awareness for those living with epilepsy.

💜 November is Epilepsy Awareness Month — a time to shine a light on those living with this neurological condition and the ongoing efforts to improve care, understanding, and support.

The NeuroMedical Center family mourns the loss of our founder, Dr. Thomas B. Flynn.

Dr. Flynn was more than a pioneering neurosurgeon — he was a visionary whose compassion and determination forever changed neurological care in Louisiana. In 1978, he founded The NeuroMedical Center with a bold dream: to bring together the region’s leading neurological and neurosurgical specialists under one roof, providing comprehensive, collaborative care for patients facing conditions of the brain, spine, and nervous system.

That dream became a reality — and nearly five decades later, his vision continues to guide everything we do. What began as one man’s mission to elevate neurological care has grown into a multidisciplinary medical community serving more than 125,000 patients each year across the Gulf Coast.

Those who knew Dr. Flynn remember his integrity, generosity, and relentless commitment to excellence. He was a mentor, a leader, and a true innovator whose work inspired countless physicians and touched the lives of so many in our community.

On behalf of our physicians and staff, we remember this remarkable man and honor the lasting legacy he leaves behind — one built on compassion, collaboration, and an unwavering dedication to improving lives.

Celebrating the incredible career of Dr. Horace Mitchell, one of The NeuroMedical Center’s most beloved neurosurgeons. 💚

After 29 years of dedication, compassion, and expertise, Dr. Mitchell is retiring — leaving behind a legacy that will forever be part of who we are. Throughout his nearly three decades of service, he has touched countless lives — performing life-changing surgeries, mentoring fellow physicians, and offering comfort and hope to every patient who crossed his path.

As he begins this next chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for his years of service to his patients, colleagues, and The NeuroMedical Center family.

When Riley was diagnosed with a serious brain condition, her dream of studying abroad felt impossible. Thanks to Dr. Bowie and The NeuroMedical Center, that dream became possible again.

Riley recovered, studied abroad, and is now back home — healthy, fearless, and thriving.

Yesterday, Dr. Richard Stanger, Neurosurgeon, made a special visit to his son’s 2nd-grade class at Episcopal! He taught the students all about keeping their brains healthy — from wearing helmets and getting plenty of sleep to eating nutritious foods. 🧠

Each student got to take home their own “junior surgeon” kit complete with NMCC swag, scrub coats, and hats — and Dr. Stanger’s son even got to “scrub in” just like Dad!

It was a wonderful day of education and engagement for the students! 💡
