As December arrives and daylight hours shorten, many people notice changes in their energy and emotional well-being. What’s often seen as “holiday stress” or the usual winter slump can sometimes be something more. Symptoms like irritability, agitation, difficulty concentrating, and challenges with decision-making can all be signs of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

With the added pressures and expectations of the holidays, it’s easy to overlook or dismiss these symptoms—but this season is actually when SAD is most likely to appear. Reduced sunlight, colder weather, and the rush of year-end responsibilities can amplify feelings of fatigue, low mood, or overwhelm.

If you’re navigating mood changes this time of year, know that you’re not alone. The Bridge Center is here to help you understand what you’re experiencing—and to support you through it, this season and beyond.

Learn more about how you can manage stress this holiday season. And as you do, keep in mind that the goal isn’t perfection—it’s well-being. This season, give yourself permission to be present—not perfect.
