Today is the Feast Day of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first American to be canonized a saint! Mother Cabrini is known for her love and compassion to the most vulnerable and is the patron saint of immigrants. She immigrated to the US from Italy and founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus after being rejected from several religious groups due to poor health.

Mother Cabrini established schools, orphanages, and hospitals, which primarily served immigrant communities in New York City. Mother Cabrini’s life reminds us of the dignity and worth of every person, calling us to stand in solidarity with those often overlooked by society.

On the same day Pope Leo XIV signed his first Apostolic Exhortation, Dilexi Te, he also signed a letter to the Catholic Charities agencies across the United States. The pope's letter is an affirmation, a sign of encouragement and a reminder that we are not alone in this work.
