***UPDATE: We are completely out of Xofluza at both locations. As of 10am today (12/23) we’ve gone through 120 doses. We apologize, but are happy to contact you when we receive more. Please email info@rxtogeaux.com. The manufacturer is having trouble keeping up.***
Flu is running rampant in Baton Rouge. Both of our locations have Xofluza in stock….for now. The 40mg tablet is going faster than Tickle-Me-Elmo, but we’re reordering it every day.
We’re happy to take care of your prescription, but a few things to know:
1) It’s expensive. It’s 1 tablet, but it’s also incredibly effective. We have a copay assistance card and will apply it to your claim. If it’s covered, the copay card usually takes it to $35. If it’s not covered, it’s just over $100. Rest assured, we don’t set the price and we don’t make $100.
2) All pharmacies are incredibly busy this time of year…..exponentially moreso with a flu outbreak. We’ll break our backs to take care of you as quickly as possible. Please know that and be patient with our crew. It’s a bit overwhelming.
3) If your prescriber called it into a chain pharmacy that can’t fill it, please ask them to send it directly to one of our locations (Perkins Rd. or Government St.) We can normally call and get it transferred, but calling the chains and holding is an enormous waste of precious time.
4) We say use Xofluza like a flare gun. Don’t take it for prevention. Take it when you need it. If you want prevention, generic Tamiflu is much cheaper and indicated for that. We have plenty of that too.
5) It’s not too late to get the flu vaccine. I won’t get into the science, or effectiveness, or COVID, or autism. If it’s something that you would like, we can handle that for you. Preferably Tuesday-Thursday from 9a-5p. Call first.
6) If you like your experience, consider PTG (or another independent pharmacy) for all of your prescriptions. Red tape is our enemy and we can almost always offer a better product, at the same or a lower price. There are exceptions to every rule and if we can’t fill your prescription, for some reason, it’s almost always a decision made that’s out of our control.
