We are incredibly proud to announce that our Director of Business Development, Melissa Cothern, has received the Category 3 Hurricane Award from Home Care Evolution🌪️💙

This award recognizes someone who goes above and beyond in their role — someone who doesn’t just show up, but shows up with heart.

Melissa isn’t only working the program with power partners and assisted living communities — she has deeply integrated herself into the community in a way that truly matters. She faithfully volunteers her time, serving families, and advocating for those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

And when she’s in assisted living communities, she’s not just “calling bingo.” She goes ALL IN. At one event, she even dressed up as a human slot machine — bringing laughter, joy, and energy to residents, families, and staff. The moment was so unique and uplifting that the video even went viral on social media!

Her compassion and commitment have not gone unnoticed. She was recently honored with the Charlie Award by the Alzheimer's Services Of The Capital Area, and today we are thrilled to celebrate her again with the Category 3 Hurricane Award.

Melissa truly embodies the heart of of Louisiana — servant leadership, compassion, and community impact.

It was another wonderful year of “Adopt a Grandparent” thanks to Nick Kidd, owner of Alpha One Imaging, Helen Pope, and our Director of Business Development, Melissa Cothern ❤️🎄❤️.

Because of your generosity, we were able to bless so many precious residents at Baton Rouge Rehab Hospital, The NeuroMedical Center Rehab, Sage Rehabilitation Hospital, Sterling Place, and Charlie’s Place.

Moments like these remind us what the season is truly about—love, compassion, and caring for others.

Our founder Brandon Ratcliff, alongside his beautiful family, had the privilege of serving hot cocoa to some very special friends at Charlie’s Place in Baton Rouge.

What began as a simple cup of cocoa became a moment of connection—shared smiles, gentle conversations, and warmth that reached far beyond the cup. Serving those living with dementia is a beautiful reminder that love, dignity, and kindness speak louder than words or memories.

We are honored to support and serve individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia, and deeply grateful for the incredible work Alzheimer's Services Of The Capital Area does every day.
