We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. We absolutely hate the position we’ve been forced into by these insurance companies. We appreciate all our loyal customers keeping their generic prescriptions with us and those continuing to shop in our store. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
Have you been told recently that your local, independent pharmacy can no longer order or stock your Brand Name medication? Have you had trouble getting it filled anywhere at all?
This is why. This is a "PAID" claim on a Medicare Part D plan. ACQ is the actual invoiced cost for the pharmacy to order the drug being processed. It costs us $1,678.02 - no rebates, no discounts, no kickbacks. The Paid amount of $1,470.07 is what the insurance has agreed to pay for that product in our "contract." The patient is happy (well, they would be if they could actually find the drug anywhere) since their copayment is $0.
Unfortunately, the underwater and abusive reimbursement has made it virtually impossible for drug stores to order or stock many Brand Name medications at all. Meaning the patients cannot get the medications that their doctors have prescribed and their insurance is supposedly "covering."
We hate the situation that we have been put in of having to choose between taking care of our patients (most of whom have been with us for decades) and surviving as a business.
We thank all of you for being so understanding when we show you the numbers and explain the problem. We thank you even more for continuing to fill your generic medications with us and shopping with us for OTC, supplements, and using our team for advice and counseling for your medications. Your loyalty and business is so appreciated.
