Who qualifies?
• A life-limiting illness
• A physician’s prognosis of six months or less if the illness follows its natural course
• A decision to focus on comfort rather than curative treatment

Benefits include:
• Expert pain and symptom management
• 24/7 support
• Emotional and spiritual care
• Support for families — including grief services

At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, care means walking alongside patients and families with compassion every step of the way.

Today, we celebrate National Caregivers Day. You don’t have to carry everything by yourself. Reaching out to community resources and trained volunteers can ease daily responsibilities, provide moments of rest, and protect your own emotional and physical well-being.

Caring for yourself isn’t selfish — it’s essential to sustaining the care you give.

Listening to our volunteers is one of our favorite ways to grow.

We were thrilled to host our first Volunteer Focus Group of 2026 last Monday, filled with meaningful conversation, fresh ideas, and wonderful company.

Our experienced volunteers shared thoughtful feedback on enhancing programs, boosting engagement, and welcoming more compassionate individuals into our mission—and we’re inspired by every bit of it.
