National Blood Donor Month Spotlight 🩸

Dr. Charles R. Drew was a visionary physician and scientist whose work transformed modern medicine. Known as the “Father of Blood Banking,” Dr. Drew developed innovative methods for collecting, processing, and storing blood plasma, making it possible to transport blood safely and use it when and where patients need it most. His research played a critical role in saving countless lives during World War II and helped establish the blood banking systems we rely on today.

Beyond his scientific achievements, Dr. Drew was a passionate advocate for equity in healthcare and medical education. His legacy reminds us that progress in medicine is driven by both innovation and compassion.

This National Blood Donor Month, we honor Dr. Drew by recognizing the lifesaving power of blood donation. 🩸 Calling all blood donors with Type O!

O blood types are always in high demand—and last week, when we called on our O-Negative donors, you showed up. Thank you! The need continues. Right now, patients in local hospitals are depending on Type O blood, and we have an immediate need for both O-Positive and O-Negative donors.

Why do we call on Type O donors so often? O-Negative blood can be transfused to anyone, regardless of blood type, and O-Positive is the most common blood type, making it the most frequently used in hospitals. Every two seconds, someone needs blood—and those patients are your neighbors, friends, and family.

We know the message can feel repetitive, but the need is constant. Thank you for continuing to step up and save lives. ❤️
